That would be lovely. Thank you very much.
Thank you! I’m only answering this publicly because I was a bit of an idiot and made this blog a secondary account, and I am not sure if it will show my actual blog if I answer this privately. A curse on you, rash decision making!
I am going to make an e-mail address for this soon and post it to my information section. You can contact me from there in lieu of jumping through the multiple spiked and flaming hoops required to get me your contact information via Tumblr. (Yes, Mr. Karp, tell us that we should not communicate via ask box and then make it so we cannot send URLs and e-mail addresses in asks. What a brilliant idea. I don’t know why I didn’t think of it.)
Thank you very much.
Hello, strange robot. I’d like to visit New York.
My name isn’t important. If everything goes the way I’d like it, you’ll never know it.
If you’re in the fandom and you’re a Kataanger, there’s a reasonably good chance that you’ve read the AU Parlor Tricks by Lyralocke. You also probably know that Lyra passed away over a year ago.
Before she died, I contacted her and received permission to finish Parlor Tricks and Prometheus. When I do, the chapters will be posted to the original stories, as she gave me permission to access her account when she sent me her outlines and drafts for the two stories.
This blog will serve two purposes.
One, it is the easiest way for me to communicate with people that I need to communicate with to finish this. For the record, everyone, I need betas! Probably only about five people, but I want my chapters betaed to death. I want to make sure my writing style and characterization is as close to Lyra’s as possible. In addition to that, there will probably be times when I get stuck writing this thing, and if I have a pool of opinions to go to, my life will be easier.
Two, it will serve as motivation for me to actually finish this. I, like a lot of writers, have a severe procrastination problem. You need look no further for evidence of this than the fact that it’s already been a year and odd months since Lyra passed and I still haven’t finished the two fics that I promised I’d finish. To me, this is honestly shameful. I figure that if people know what I’m doing and can yell at encourage me to finish, I’ll have the proper motivation to do so.
I don’t have a timetable for when the stories will be finished yet. I was initially hoping to have Parlor Tricks finished by August, but alas, it is now mid-August and I have fallen woefully short of my goal.
And now, I ask for advice; would everyone rather I publish the completed chapters as I write them, or when the stories have been finished? Material will be available sooner if I go with the former, but more quickly once released if I go with the latter. It doesn’t really matter to me, which is why I am asking you all.
Thanks, everyone. Hopefully I’ll be able to do this.
